Can I bring my own jewelry to be pierced with? No, and here's why: We source only certified, verifiable ASTM implant-grade titanium or solid 14k gold for all of our piercings. In order to meet insurance/quality/health & safety standards, we need to be able to trace the jewelry all the way from the manufacturer directly to our studio. Any breaks in this chain mean that we cannot guarantee the quality of the jewelry being used.
Can I bring jewelry I've purchased elsewhere for you to install in my healed piercing? No, and here's why: All of the body jewelry sold in our studio comes with a manufacturer's warranty. If something were to happen to your own jewelry during the install (e.g., a cheaper quality piece breaks, or a stone is loosened), we would not be able to assist you with a warranty claim nor do we want to assume liability for the repair/replacement. We also have a duty of care to our clients, and knowingly installing a low-cost or poor quality piece that may potentially irritate a piercing would not be in keeping with that commitment. What type of jewelry do you use for fresh piercings? We use hand-polished ASTMF136 Implant-grade titanium or solid 14k gold (custom ordered), that is verifiable and comes with a lifetime manufacturer's warranty. Standard titanium jewelry starts at $35-$40 (depending on style), with many options to upgrade. You'll want to stick to smooth, more basic designs that do not allow seams or stones to enter the piercing while healing (i.e., barbells, circular barbells, fixed bead rings, etc.). Your piercer can help guide you through the selection process prior to your appointment.
How long will my piercings take to heal? Healing times will vary depending on the location of your piercing. Remember, there are stages of healing and people often mistake a piercing to be healed once reaching the end of the first (inflammatory) phase. The inflammatory phase is when you'll notice some bleeding, swelling, redness, tenderness, and/or discharge (beige-y in colour). The piercing will be more prone to irritations and infections. After this, it's the strengthening up of the inside of the piercing (the fistula), that can take a lot longer. It's important to remember that there's more happening beneath the surface, and trust in the process is essential. Standard healing times (without issues) are as follows: • Lobe(s): 3-4 months • Nostril: 4-6 months • Septum: 3-4 months • Single-point cartilage piercings on the ear: 6-8 months • Orbitals / Industrials: 1 year+ • Lip: 2-3 months • Tongue: 1-2 months • Navel: 9 months - 1 year+ • Nipple: 9 months - 1 year+ • Dermals: 3-4 months • Surface Anchors: 6 months • VCH: 2-3 months
Can I bring my friends/family to my appointment? Yes, within reason. One support person is standard etiquette. While we're all for moral support, space in the studio can often be limited and we may need to limit access to only clients who are receiving services. That being said, we are unable to accommodate any additional people in the piercing room due to lack of space and limits to liability.
